EDD 2018 COMPETITION DETAILS

Theme: Uniquely Singapore

Venue: Changkat Changi Secondary School

Date: 25/8/28 Saturday

TIme: 8:30am-1pm

1. Sports – Captain’s Ball

  • Each Coy/Pack is allowed to send only 1 team of 4 players, 1 keeper and 1 reserve.

  • The match consists of Quarter-Finals, Semi-finals and Finals. It will based on a knock-out system.

  • In the event of a draw for semi-finals or finals, “sudden death” game play would apply and the first team to score a goal wins.

  • A walkover will be announced if any team fails to report at the venue.

  • Only those involved in the match are allowed in the playing venue.

  • In the event of an injury, the umpire will call time and the time-keeper will pause the timer. A maximum of 1 minute is allowed for an injury.

  • A substitute player can enter the playing area from the substitution line in front of the timekeeper’s table only after the player being substituted has left the court.

  • Participants should be properly attired in their PE/CCA shirt and PE shorts. They must wear either school shoes or sport shoes.

  • Participants should bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.

  • Participants should display good sportsmanship. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

  • Participants are reminded to take care of their belongings.

  • Time frame: Approx. 1.5 hours for the whole event (including Quarter-Finals, Semi-finals and Finals).

2. Girls Got Talent Competition – “Impact”

  • Each Coy/Pack can only send in 1 team consisting of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 members.

  • Each performance should not exceed more than 3 minutes.

  • The item should be in line with the theme: ‘Impact’

  • Students can choose to dance, sing, play instruments, dramatize or a combination of any of it. No dangerous acts or stunts and revealing clothing.

  • Groups will be judged on relevance to the Theme, Teamwork, Originality & Content, Confidence and Entertainment Value.

  • Own CD with song must be brought for the competition. It must be clearly labelled with school name, track title and number.

  • Request for extra power points, mics and etc must be included in the application form. (Subject to availability.)

3. Snack- Making - Uniquely Singapore

  • Each Coy/Pack is allowed to send only 1 team. Maximum number of participants in each team is 3

  • Each Coy/Pack should prepare and present a healthy snack that is in line with this year’s theme: Uniquely Singapore

  • The maximum budget for the dish is $10 (The cost will be borne by your school)

  • All ingredients should be brought by the competing schools in unprepared state, not trimmed, cut or sliced. Any equipment or utensils needed must be brought by the competing schools. Electrical supply will not be provided.

  • Competing schools have to submit a write-up to explain the relevance of the dish to the theme. The write-up should also include a breakdown of the budget, receipt(s) attached.

  • Students should be ready to give a brief explanation of their dish to the judges during judging.

  • Safety rules and food handling procedures have to be followed. Hand gloves and aprons (brought by the competing school) are compulsory during the food preparation process.

Judging Criterion

1. Product Presentation

Participants should be creative in their overall presentation. Plating should contain excellent colour and be well organised.

2. Safety Rules

Participants should follow safety rules and food handling procedures. Hand gloves and apron have to be worn at all times.

3. Cleanliness of work station

Participants should ensure that working area is clean and tidy.

4. Final Product

Participants should ensure correct preparation of food products resulting in good flavour profiles, texture and consistency.

5. Write Up

Write-up should clearly explain the relevance of the food presented to the theme. Receipt(s) to be attached.

Time Frame: 1 hour 30 minutes.

4. Mixed media art- Uniquely Singapore

  • Each Coy/Pack is allowed to send only 1 team. Maximum number of participants in each team is 2.

  • A mixed media artwork is an artwork in which more than one medium or material has been employed. Both 2D and 3D artwork are accepted. Examples of mixed media art and mediums used (including but not limited to):

Collage

Assemblage

Cut paper

Fabric

Acrylic / watercolour / paint

Clay / wood / found material

  • All 2D artworks must be no larger than A4 size: 297 x 210mm. 3D artworks must conform to a maximum size of an A4 sheet, with ONE side being no longer than the longest side of an A4 sheet, and the OTHER TWO SIDES no longer than the shortest side of an A4 sheet, i.e. maximum size of 297mm x 210mm x 210mm.

  • The artwork created should be in line with the theme Uniquely Singapore.

  • Participants are required to bring their own materials as there will be no materials provided.

Below are the list of items to be brought along for the competition:

  • All materials necessary for the creation of artwork (including but not limited to):

  • Paper / cloth / board (to produce artwork on)

  • Drawing / painting materials (watercolour, pencil, acrylic paint, crayon, ink, charcoal etc)

  • Other mixed media (cut paper, fabric, plaster, found material)

  • Containers to hold water in

  • Tools (scissors, glue,)

  • Rags (for clean-up)

  • Aprons/unused tee

  • Newspaper (to avoid dirtying the tables)

  • Draft model of artwork and any other printed images (as reference for final)

Participants are allowed to plan and bring along a draft model of the artwork. The process of creating the final artwork should be done from scratch during the event itself.

Finally, each team is to prepare beforehand a 50 words write-up describing how the artwork illustrates the given theme.

5. Recycled Fashion Show- Traditional Local delicacies

  • Each Coy/Pack is allowed to send only 1 team. The maximum number of participants in a team is 4.

  • The outfit should be created from recycled materials that best portray the theme: Traditional local delicacies. Participants are required to bring their own materials.

  • Participants are allowed to plan for and sketch the details of the outfit prior to the event. The process of creating the outfit should be done from scratch during the event itself. No pre-prepared or pre-cut materials are allowed; only raw state of materials will be accepted.

  • Prior to the event, each team is to prepare and submit a 50-word write-up describing the outfit and the idea that was used to create the outfit.

  • The final product will be judged based on overall design of outfit, creativity, presentation and oral presentation.

6. Cheerleading- Uniquely Singapore

  • The Cheer should not be more than 2 minutes.

  • The Cheer should be relevant to the theme.

  • The theme for the Cheer will be in line with the East Division Day Theme.

  • Groups will be judged on relevance to the Theme, Teamwork, Originality & Content, Confidence and Entertainment Value.

  • Every Company/pack can only send in one unit to participate.

  • Each unit can only consist of 5 members

  • Guides / Brownies are not allowed to engage in any dangerous acts or stunts.

  • Time frame: 1 hour 30 minutes
