Hi Guides! Here are the details of the competitions for World Thinking Day 2017. Please remember to fill up the google document shared with you as well. For any enquiries, please contact WTD OICs (Eldina, Chloe, Jezebel, Lydia).

GGS100 Poster Design Competition

GGS100 Poster is the collective effort of Brownies, Guides, Young Adults and Guiders in capturing the memories of our pioneers and hopes of our girls.

The objectives are:

  1. Reflecting on memories where members reflect and learn from milestones in GGS’s history and learn from the experiences of our pioneers and pay tribute to them.

  2. Expressing hopes for the future where members create and collectively express their hopes and aspirations for the future.

Each division is assigned a particular period in GGS history,

  1. North Division: 1917 – 1941

  2. South Division: 1942 – 1966

  3. East Division: 1967 – 1991

  4. West Division: 1992 – 2016

Covering the following themes:

  1. Breaking frontiers

  2. Our identity

  3. Partnership and its impact on the community

  4. Badges & Girl Guiding programme

Judging Criteria:

  1. Originality & creativity

  2. Quality of graphic file (in good resolution)

  3. Attention to details/composition/colour balance

  4. Relevance & accuracy to the assigned quarter century

Submission Requirements:

  1. All entries must be submitted as digital files. There is no limit to the number of entries you may submit.

  2. Entries are to be in A1 size (594mm x 841mm) and can be in portrait or landscape.

  3. Entries need to be a printable PDF/EPS/AI file format. JPG/PPT/DOC/DOCX or any other file formats will not be accepted.

  4. If you use traditional media (e.g. paint, marker, ink, wax etc.), you are to digitise it & submit in an A1 file format as above. You may choose to scan or take good resolution pictures of the final output under good lighting conditions. Bear in mind that the selected entries may be printed for use in centenary celebration events & publicity materials.

  5. If photos/text are extracted from online sources, acknowledge through proper citation practices.

Submission Steps:

  1. Upload the graphic file to a cloud (e.g. Google Drive/Dropbox/OneDrive).

  2. Copy & paste the link on the attached submission form.

  3. Email the form to ggs.wtd.competitions@gmail.com by Friday, 20 January 2017, 5.00pm. It is your responsibility to ensure that the link contains the file in good working condition.

  4. All entries may be used / displayed at the discretion of Girl Guides Singapore.

  5. All decisions of the judges are final

GGS100 Video Competition

Create your own video for the song “When We Shine” or “We Change the World” and show the world what Girl Guiding looks like in Singapore. Be as creative as you like – you might come up with your own choreography or share the Girl Guiding activities that mean the most to you.

Judging Criteria:

  1. Originality & creativity

  2. Quality of video file (in good resolution – refer to specs below)

  3. Attention to details/composition/colour balance/audio

  4. Relevance & accuracy to the theme

Submission Requirements:

  1. All entries must be submitted as digital files. There is no limit to the number of entries you may submit.

  2. Entries are to be in mp4 file format.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Video must include an introduction (of approximately 30s) of the unit & what the song means to them.

  2. Video may be in the form of a video recording/animations/moving photos etc.

  3. If you choose to audio record, ensure adequate volume. Do record a few tests to ensure audio is audible.

  4. If you choose to film, ensure adequate lighting & that the camera is maintained in a still position (e.g. using a tripod). Make sure you record in high-definition video (1920 x 1080). If you have an HD camera set it to shoot at 1080p.

  1. Upload the mp4 file to a cloud (e.g. Google Drive/Dropbox/OneDrive).

  2. Copy & paste the link on the attached submission form.

  3. Email the form to ggs.wtd.competitions@gmail.com by Wednesday, 25 January 2017.

  4. It is your responsibility to ensure that the link contains the file in good working condition.

  5. All entries may be used / displayed at the discretion of Girl Guides Singapore.
