Accident Prevention, Speaker's, and Toymaker's Badges

Hi Sec 2s!

-Accident Prevention Badge-

Below are the clauses you have to complete for the Accident Prevention Badge.

Clause 1

Know and where possible, demonstrate how to guard against accidents and when using: gas electrical appliances, kerosene stoves, naked lights, open fires.

Clause 2

Know what special precautions to take in the house with:

2.1 Small children

2.2 Old people

Clause 3

Know at least three different ways of preventing accidents:

3.1 When boating and bathing;

3.2 When using public transport, cars and cycles;

3.3 When with animals;

3.4 In high-rise buildings.

Clause 4

Know what special precautions to take outdoors with regard to barbed wire, poisonous plants, storms and other hazards, e.g. Hornets, jelly-fish etc.

Clause 5

Be prepared to put your knowledge to the test in a given situation.

Please prepare a skit in your combined patrols to demonstrate the above points. Be prepared to perform your skit on 26 Febuary 2016(Friday). There will also be a written test on 26 February 2016 (Friday).

-Speaker’s Badge-

Below is the clause you have to complete for the Speaker’s badge.

Clause 1:

Say from memory a short poem or passage of verse of her choice, lasting not less than one minute and not more than two minutes.

As the rest of the clauses have been either covered by the school or will be given to you on the day itself, you will only have to prepare clause 1 beforehand. Be prepared to present your short poem or passage on 26 February 2016(Friday).

-Toy Maker’s badge

Below are the clauses you have to complete for the Toymaker’s Badge.

Clause 1

  • Make a toy of her choice and explain how it can be used for performance / use at a visit to an old folks’ home, childrens’ home etc

•To complete at home & write a short description on the toy.

•To present to the company how the toy can be played for the mentioned purpose.

Clause 2

2. Pass two of the following:

2.1 Make two different animals of some soft material, or one material of one animal and one rag doll, the face to be painted or embroidered. Cut-out patterns may be used.

2.2 Make two different vehicles with movable wheels from wood, cork or other material.

2.3 Make a wool ball on card frame and a bird or beast with scraps of coloured wool, suitable for a tiny baby.

2.4 Dress a doll, the clothes to be removable and similar to those of a baby or toddler. The doll may be that submitted in clause (2.1).

2.5 Make a room of doll’s house from a box; paint, paper and furnish it completely, using oddments and scraps.

2.6 Make a scrapbook to include one page of original illustrations or an original story, e.g. a fairy story, nature story, heroic story.

2.7 Make a model farmyard or doll’s house.

To present to the company how the toy can be played for the mentioned purpose

The deadline to hand up both Clauses 1 and 2 for Toy Maker’s Badge will be on 26 February 2016, Friday. Extension regarding the deadline for this badge will have to be requested a few days in advance.
